Overview:
DSIP (Delta Sleep-Inducing Peptide) is a nonapeptide originally isolated from cerebral venous blood of sleeping rabbits and studied for its role in sleep, stress, and neuroendocrine regulation.
Description
Overview
DSIP is a 9–amino acid neuropeptide (Trp-Ala-Gly-Gly-Asp-Ala-Ser-Gly-Glu) originally isolated by Schoenenberger and Monnier in the 1970s from the cerebral venous blood of rabbits exhibiting EEG patterns of slow-wave sleep. Its specific endogenous receptor has not been definitively identified.
Research Background
DSIP has been studied in research on sleep architecture, stress response, opioid withdrawal models, and neuroendocrine regulation. Its name reflects its initial association with delta-wave sleep induction.
Storage & Handling
Store lyophilized peptide at -20°C for long-term stability. Once reconstituted with bacteriostatic water, store at 2–8°C and use within recommended timeframes. Handle under sterile laboratory conditions and avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles.
