Overview:
Vasoactive Intestinal Peptide (VIP) is a 28–amino acid neuropeptide of the secretin/glucagon superfamily studied for its broad roles in vasodilation, immune regulation, and circadian biology.
Description
Overview
VIP is a 28–amino acid peptide originally isolated from porcine intestine by Said and Mutt. It is widely distributed in central and peripheral neurons, enteric ganglia, and immune cells, and belongs to the secretin/glucagon peptide superfamily.
Research Background
VIP has been studied in research on vasodilation, intestinal physiology, immune modulation, circadian regulation, and pulmonary biology. It is a foundational reference peptide for VPAC receptor pharmacology.
Storage & Handling
Store lyophilized peptide at -20°C for long-term stability. Once reconstituted with bacteriostatic water, store at 2–8°C and use within recommended timeframes. Handle under sterile laboratory conditions and avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles.
