Description

Overview

Selank is a synthetic heptapeptide (Thr-Lys-Pro-Arg-Pro-Gly-Pro) developed at the M.M. Shemyakin Institute and the Institute of Molecular Genetics of the Russian Academy of Sciences. It is structurally based on the immune-active tetrapeptide tuftsin (TKPR), with a C-terminal Pro-Gly-Pro extension for stability.

Research Background

Selank has been studied in research on anxiety, stress response, immune-CNS crosstalk, and cognitive function. It is one of several Russian-developed neuropeptides used as reference compounds in Eastern European neuropharmacology.

Storage & Handling

Store lyophilized peptide at -20°C for long-term stability. Once reconstituted with bacteriostatic water, store at 2–8°C and use within recommended timeframes. Handle under sterile laboratory conditions and avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles.
