Description

Overview

PT-141, also called Bremelanotide, is a cyclic heptapeptide analog of α-MSH and a metabolite-stable derivative of Melanotan II. It exhibits agonist activity at multiple melanocortin receptors with notable activity at MC4R.

Research Background

PT-141 has been investigated for its action on central nervous system pathways related to sexual response. Unlike PDE5 inhibitors, which act on vascular tissue, PT-141 has been studied as a centrally acting reference compound in melanocortin pharmacology.

Storage & Handling

Store lyophilized peptide at -20°C for long-term stability. Once reconstituted with bacteriostatic water, store at 2–8°C and use within recommended timeframes. Handle under sterile laboratory conditions and avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles.
