Overview:
Thymosin Alpha-1 (Tα1) is a 28–amino acid acetylated peptide derived from prothymosin alpha, originally isolated from thymic tissue and studied for its broad immunomodulatory activity.
Description
Overview
Thymosin Alpha-1 is a 28–amino acid N-terminally acetylated peptide naturally produced by thymic epithelial cells. It was first isolated from thymosin fraction 5 by Allan Goldstein and colleagues and is one of the most extensively studied immunomodulatory peptides.
Research Background
Tα1 has been investigated in research on viral infection models, immune dysregulation, vaccine adjuvant studies, and oncology research. It is approved for clinical use in multiple countries for hepatitis B and C and is studied as an immune modulator in a wide range of preclinical settings.
Storage & Handling
Store lyophilized peptide at -20°C for long-term stability. Once reconstituted with bacteriostatic water, store at 2–8°C and use within recommended timeframes. Handle under sterile laboratory conditions and avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles.
