Overview

SS-31, also called Elamipretide or MTP-131, is a small tetrapeptide engineered to selectively concentrate in the inner mitochondrial membrane through interaction with cardiolipin. It is part of the Szeto-Schiller (SS) peptide series.

Research Background

SS-31 has been studied in research on mitochondrial dysfunction, ischemia-reperfusion injury, heart failure, neurodegeneration, and age-related decline in mitochondrial bioenergetics.

Storage & Handling

Store lyophilized peptide at -20°C for long-term stability. Once reconstituted with bacteriostatic water, store at 2–8°C and use within recommended timeframes. Handle under sterile laboratory conditions and avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles.
