LL-37

Description

Overview

LL-37 is a 37–residue cationic α-helical peptide derived from the C-terminus of the human cathelicidin precursor hCAP-18. It is the sole human cathelicidin and is expressed by neutrophils, epithelial cells, and other cell types as part of the innate immune system.

Research Background

LL-37 has been studied extensively in research on antimicrobial peptides, innate immunity, wound healing, and inflammation. Its activity against bacteria, viruses, and fungi, alongside its host-modulatory functions, makes it a reference compound in antimicrobial peptide research.
