01Product details
Overview
AOD9604 (Anti-Obesity Drug 9604) is a 16–amino acid synthetic peptide based on the C-terminal region of human growth hormone, with a tyrosine added at the N-terminus for stability. It was developed by Frank Ng and colleagues at Monash University.
Research Background
AOD9604 has been studied in research on adipocyte metabolism, lipolysis, and lipogenesis. It was developed specifically to isolate the lipolytic activity of GH from its broader anabolic and IGF-1-driven effects.
Storage & Handling
Store lyophilized peptide at -20°C for long-term stability. Once reconstituted with bacteriostatic water, store at 2–8°C and use within recommended timeframes. Handle under sterile laboratory conditions and avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles.
Disclaimer:
This product is for laboratory research use only. It is not intended for human or animal consumption or for use in any diagnostic, therapeutic, or clinical applications.
02Mechanism of action
AOD9604 acts on adipocytes to stimulate lipolysis (triglyceride breakdown to free fatty acids and glycerol) and inhibit lipogenesis (formation of new triglycerides). It does not bind the GH receptor and does not raise IGF-1, distinguishing its pharmacology from full-length growth hormone. The mechanism is thought to involve beta-3 adrenergic-like signaling in adipose tissue in research models.
03Research applications
AOD9604 is studied in research on adipose tissue biology, lipolysis, and metabolic regulation. It is a reference compound for studying GH's lipolytic activity in isolation from its somatotropic effects.
