01Product details
Overview
Cerebrolysin is a peptide preparation produced by standardized enzymatic breakdown of porcine brain proteins. The resulting mixture consists of biologically active low-molecular-weight peptides (under 10 kDa) together with free amino acids, structured to resemble endogenous neurotrophic factors.
Research Background
Cerebrolysin has been studied for several decades in research on stroke, traumatic brain injury, neurodegeneration, and cognitive function. It is one of the most extensively investigated neurotrophic peptide preparations in the literature.
Storage & Handling
Store lyophilized peptide at -20°C for long-term stability. Once reconstituted with bacteriostatic water, store at 2–8°C and use within recommended timeframes. Handle under sterile laboratory conditions and avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles.
Disclaimer:
This product is for laboratory research use only. It is not intended for human or animal consumption or for use in any diagnostic, therapeutic, or clinical applications.
02Mechanism of action
Cerebrolysin's components have been shown to mimic the effects of endogenous neurotrophic factors, including nerve growth factor (NGF) and brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF). Research models report effects including modulation of neurogenesis, reduction in neuronal apoptosis, attenuation of glutamate excitotoxicity, and influence on amyloid precursor protein processing in neurodegeneration models.
03Research applications
Cerebrolysin is studied in research on cerebral ischemia, traumatic brain injury models, neurodegeneration (including Alzheimer's-type research), vascular dementia, and developmental neurology. It is a long-standing reference neurotrophic preparation.
