01Product details
Overview
Thymosin Alpha-1 is a 28–amino acid N-terminally acetylated peptide naturally produced by thymic epithelial cells. It was first isolated from thymosin fraction 5 by Allan Goldstein and colleagues and is one of the most extensively studied immunomodulatory peptides.
Research Background
Tα1 has been investigated in research on viral infection models, immune dysregulation, vaccine adjuvant studies, and oncology research. It is approved for clinical use in multiple countries for hepatitis B and C and is studied as an immune modulator in a wide range of preclinical settings.
Storage & Handling
Store lyophilized peptide at -20°C for long-term stability. Once reconstituted with bacteriostatic water, store at 2–8°C and use within recommended timeframes. Handle under sterile laboratory conditions and avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles.
Disclaimer:
This product is for laboratory research use only. It is not intended for human or animal consumption or for use in any diagnostic, therapeutic, or clinical applications.
02Mechanism of action
Thymosin Alpha-1 acts primarily through Toll-like receptor signaling, particularly TLR2 and TLR9, on dendritic cells and other antigen-presenting cells. Engagement of these receptors influences MyD88-dependent pathways, modulates dendritic cell maturation, supports Th1-type cytokine production (IFN-γ, IL-2), and enhances function of CD4+ and CD8+ T cells and NK cells.
03Research applications
Tα1 is studied in research on antiviral immunity, immune reconstitution, vaccine response, sepsis, and tumor immunology. It is one of the most clinically referenced thymic peptides and serves as a benchmark in immunopeptide research.
