01Product details
Overview
LL-37 is a 37–residue cationic α-helical peptide derived from the C-terminus of the human cathelicidin precursor hCAP-18. It is the sole human cathelicidin and is expressed by neutrophils, epithelial cells, and other cell types as part of the innate immune system.
Research Background
LL-37 has been studied extensively in research on antimicrobial peptides, innate immunity, wound healing, and inflammation. Its activity against bacteria, viruses, and fungi, alongside its host-modulatory functions, makes it a reference compound in antimicrobial peptide research.
Storage & Handling
Store lyophilized peptide at -20°C for long-term stability. Once reconstituted with bacteriostatic water, store at 2–8°C and use within recommended timeframes. Handle under sterile laboratory conditions and avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles.
Disclaimer:
This product is for laboratory research use only. It is not intended for human or animal consumption or for use in any diagnostic, therapeutic, or clinical applications.
02Mechanism of action
LL-37 disrupts microbial membranes through its amphipathic, cationic structure, which interacts with negatively charged phospholipids on bacterial and other microbial surfaces, leading to membrane destabilization and lysis. Beyond direct antimicrobial action, LL-37 modulates host immune responses by binding the FPR2 receptor and other targets, influencing chemotaxis, dendritic cell maturation, angiogenesis, and resolution of inflammation.
03Research applications
LL-37 is studied in research on antimicrobial activity, wound healing, innate immunity, and inflammation. It is a reference cathelicidin in human antimicrobial-peptide research.
