01Product details
Overview
DSIP is a 9–amino acid neuropeptide (Trp-Ala-Gly-Gly-Asp-Ala-Ser-Gly-Glu) originally isolated by Schoenenberger and Monnier in the 1970s from the cerebral venous blood of rabbits exhibiting EEG patterns of slow-wave sleep. Its specific endogenous receptor has not been definitively identified.
Research Background
DSIP has been studied in research on sleep architecture, stress response, opioid withdrawal models, and neuroendocrine regulation. Its name reflects its initial association with delta-wave sleep induction.
Storage & Handling
Store lyophilized peptide at -20°C for long-term stability. Once reconstituted with bacteriostatic water, store at 2–8°C and use within recommended timeframes. Handle under sterile laboratory conditions and avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles.
Disclaimer:
This product is for laboratory research use only. It is not intended for human or animal consumption or for use in any diagnostic, therapeutic, or clinical applications.
02Mechanism of action
The precise mechanism of DSIP remains incompletely characterized. Research suggests modulation of multiple neurotransmitter systems, including effects on GABAergic signaling, monoaminergic systems, and the hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal (HPA) axis. DSIP is also reported to influence pituitary hormone secretion and may exert antioxidant activity in cellular research models.
03Research applications
DSIP is studied in research on sleep biology, stress response, neuroendocrine regulation, and antioxidant signaling. It is a reference compound for early sleep-peptide research.
