01Product details
Overview
GHRP-2 is a synthetic 6–amino acid peptide (D-Ala-D-2-Nal-Ala-Trp-D-Phe-Lys-NH₂) belonging to the growth hormone-releasing peptide (GHRP) class. It is used in some clinical settings as a diagnostic agent for assessment of growth hormone reserve.
Research Background
GHRP-2 has been studied as a reference GHS in research on the somatotropic axis, ghrelin receptor pharmacology, and pituitary function. It is used as a comparative compound alongside Ipamorelin, GHRP-6, and Hexarelin.
Storage & Handling
Store lyophilized peptide at -20°C for long-term stability. Once reconstituted with bacteriostatic water, store at 2–8°C and use within recommended timeframes. Handle under sterile laboratory conditions and avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles.
Disclaimer:
This product is for laboratory research use only. It is not intended for human or animal consumption or for use in any diagnostic, therapeutic, or clinical applications.
02Mechanism of action
GHRP-2 binds and activates the growth hormone secretagogue receptor 1a (GHSR-1a) on pituitary somatotrophs and hypothalamic neurons. Receptor activation engages Gq-coupled phospholipase C signaling, calcium mobilization, and pulsatile growth hormone release. Compared with the more selective Ipamorelin, GHRP-2 also produces modest elevations in cortisol and prolactin in some research models.
03Research applications
GHRP-2 is studied in research on pituitary GH secretion, ghrelin receptor pharmacology, body composition, and appetite regulation. It is a reference compound in GHS pharmacology.
